Food for New Believers
Delighted to inform that we have now received the first draft of the translation of Food for New Believers, and that we are very hopeful of completing the editorial and typesetting work in time to have the finished publication ready before the end of the year.
Please keep this matter before the Lord so that we should know His help and guidance.
Mission accomplished – sort of…
Thanks for all your prayers during the past 2-and-a-bit weeks – I arrived safely back in N.Ireland on Monday morning.
Although shorter than other trips, I was delighted to be able to oversee the distribution of all of the 100,000Â Exploring God’s Word magazines we had printed, although, as mentioned in a previous post, these fell very far short of the current demand for the literature.
When it became clear, around the middle of my trip, that we needed more material I asked the printer to produce a further 75,000 copies. By the end of last week it was becoming evident that this too would not be enough, so I asked for a further 25,000 and I now expect that in the end we will need more than that again.
This is a real thrill – the circulation of the first two editions of the magazine was 50,000 each, which means that with this, the fourth edition, the circulation has more than quadrupled. What’s really special is that we are increasingly meeting and supplying genuinely faithful believers with a burden for Gospel outreach in their own localities. Most still know little, if anything, about the truth of the assembly, but it is exciting to see their Gospel zeal, and to prayerfully consider where these contacts may lead the work in the future.
The logistics of moving such large and increasing volumes are challenging. We are very pleased with the result of our decision to print more materials locally, for although the quality is not quite as good as material printed in the UK, the lead time is only a fraction of what it would otherwise be, meaning that literature stocks can be kept replenished much more easily. It has been a real blessing that both Harold and Goodson have, in the goodness of the Lord, much greater mobility than before and are therefore able to keep many aspects of the work going forward to some extent in my absence. To that end, please pray that Goodson’s little motorcycle, and Harold’s (slightly ancient) car will continue to give reliable service.
My next planned visit to Malawi will be in August, DV, when we are once again looking forward to the help of a team of volunteers for intensive open-air work and Seed Sower distribution. Pray for help in the planning and production of Gospel material for this effort.
Demand outstripping supply
Only 4 days into my latest trip I’ve already had to arrange a reprint of the latest edition of Exploring God’s Word.
With only part of the Southern region covered, it’s already clear that the original print run of 100,000 is going to fall very far short. I’ve just ordered a further 75,000 copies which the local brothers will use after I’ve gone. Pray for the Lord’s blessing on this large volume of Gospel literature.
Upcoming Visit to Malawi
I will value your prayerful support as I leave again on Sunday evening for a further visit to Malawi.
As mentioned in a previous post, we have recently published our latest edition of Exploring God’s Word and I hope to oversee it’s distribution over the course of the next couple of weeks.  Time permitting, we will also distribute more Exercise Books and other literature.
I will post any items of special interest as appropriate.
In the meantime, many thanks for your prayers!
Million Milestone!
I’m very excited to tell you that when the latest edition of Exploring God’s Word clears proof-reading and goes to press later this week it will push the total number of items of Gospel Literature we’ve published since 2012 for Malawi  through the 1,000,000 mark.
We are so thankful to the Lord and His people for making this service possible, and claim His promise that His word will not return unto Him void!
I plan to be in Malawi again next month, God willing, to oversee the distribution of these magazines, and to attend to some other issues. Please pray for blessing.
Winding up
Another time I’ve come to the end of a very enjoyable, and I believe profitable trip to Malawi.
Although I’ve done much less travel than I usually do, a lot has been accomplished and foundations laid for the future. Please watch this space for details of some significant developments in planning.
Of more immediate interest, in the course of the past few weeks we have produced:
* 10,000 Acts 16v31 school exercise books
* 150,000 Gospel tracts in 4 varieties
* 5,000 John’s Gospel/Romans booklets
Distribution of these materials is well under way. Please pray for much blessing.
More encouragement today
This post is mainly for the encouragement of the sisters who accompanied us to Malawi last August. Victory, pictured on the left with Harold and I, received a Seed Sower text from one of the ladies on our very first day of outreach at Blantyre market.
He is a believer, and actively involved in Gospel outreach, and was impressed by the truth of the message the text contained. Â He has been in touch a few times with Harold, but this was the first time we have all been able to get together. Â It was very encouraging to hear a clear testimony of God’s saving grace, and to witness his interest in spreading the Gospel. Â We were able to supply him with a few thousand tracts, and we have no doubt that he will soon be looking for more. Â He has invited Harold to join him at an evangelistic Bible study he conducts at his home each Sunday afternoon. Â A valuable contact indeed!
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ…
Around 700 teenagers heard the Gospel and received an exercise book with a clear Gospel message from Acts 16v31 – no more important question than “What must I do to be saved?”, and no more straight-forward answer than “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved”. Please pray that many will do just that, and for the Lord’s blessing as we continue this valuable work.
It was humbling to see so many youngsters get excited over a gift of an exercise book. But then we were told that many students were missing from school today as they had been sent home for failing to pay the balance of their school fees – about £5 equivalent for the entire term!
